COTTAGE INDUSTRY TO BEGIN AT JEREMIAH HOUSE

A COTTAGE INDUSTRY FOR JEREMIAH HOUSE

Youth at Jeremiah House are learning, developing and moving forward with their lives.

Yet, this following question has been a big one for us.

"Will our helping actually help - or will it build dependency."

So much has been said recently of "how helping really hurts."  We have seen this as well, and have heard youth say things that confirm how past built an entitlement attitude.

We know the youth at Jeremiah House have a limited time to learn Life Skills.  They are part of a family at JH and  'mom' Gulnara has been teaching them to cook, to clean and to raise their chickens - which are now laying eggs.

Yet we know youth need more than this.  We offer them educational help, counseling, and spiritual guidance as an ongoing activity in the home.

They have a weekly cell group, assigned responsibilities and many more learning opportunities.

BUT CHECK THIS OUT!  A NEW COTTAGE INDUSTRY FOR JEREMIAH KIDS!

See this sewing machine?  We are planning to start a new cottage industry with Jeremiah House - making national crafts.  We have space to put a sewing center - Here are the needs for the center:

1.  Put heat into the room. ($450.00)
2.  Install work tables, shelves for fabric and materials. ($375.00)
3.  Put in a good floor. ($200.00)
4.  Purchase two sewing machines. ($350.00 EACH - Donated FUNDS HAVE BEEN GIVEN - DONE!)
5.  Purchase one sewing sizer. ($350.00)
6.  Purchase sewing materials.
7.  Get instructions set up for youth.
8.  Sell products - to visitors and send to North America for support of new industry and youth.
9.  Teach youth to budget with their resources from the Cottage Industry.
