HERE IS THE EMAIL FROM OLGA - OUR RESIDENTIAL DIRECTOR FROM KYRGYZSTAN....
We have a new
boy at Jeremiah House - Dzhanybek.
We met him
first this spring in the mountains, and I liked him there a lot, I remember
even sharing with you about this kid. He has excellent marks in school, very
smart, and won a contest amongst smart kids of KG this year, he also came to
our meeting with graduates from the Chuy orphanage when we had at the Jeremiah
Drop in Center.
His plan at
that time was to go and study in Bishkek, he thought he could stay with his
aunt, but last week the day before camp he contacted us, he was ashamed to ask,
I could feel it, but he asked if he could stay at JH, he actually called us
because Vika (who is now living at Jeremiah House) told him "they are good
people, they promised to help, and there is an open place for a boy, please
contact them", so he did, we met with him and talked.
For couple of
years he attended the old Pentecostal church, they have a shelter there, and he
went there and lived there for a short time, but they are not able to take kids
for long periods of time.
His goal is
to finish the school, he studies really well, has most A at school and several
B marks. He wants to continue to study after school. He stays with Gulnara at
Jeremiah House for a week now, and he already told her "it is so different
here from every other place I've been, you are like a family here"...
I also wanted
to share the change and success I see in Ira...
I believe
that she is changing, and I see the changes in her, it is just that she needs
more time. Ira went to camp with us, and
I tell you that amongst all the kids who went with us from the church, to
help; she was the most responsible one,
she never left her team of young kids, even for one moment, she was getting
ready for the evening meetings every day with the girls, discussing the topic
of the day with them.
We thanked
Ira a lot during the camp for her serving.
Ira also told
Katya, that in the camp she was able to see that the profession she is going to
study for is really hers, after being with kids she understood that she will
become a good teacher, cause she likes this kind of job.
Most of the
kids from JH will go to school # 2, not far from where they live.
Vika will go
to technical college # 35, she will study for a cook for now.
Ira is going
to college to study for primary school teacher.
Asis will
stay in Ak-Bata. I met with his mother today. He earned some money during the
summer, and his brothers will add to pay for Ak-Bata, but she asked me if we
are able to buy new uniform for him.
Alimbek and
Aisulu are staying at home, Tamara (their mother) solved all the needed things at school, did
all the paper work, I can tell you that I am happy about this. Aisulu really
began to grow, and I think that partly this happens because she went home, she
wanted to go home, at home she feels safe, and she grows.
By the way
her family is doing some construction work, and planning to add room to the
house.
Omurbek promises
he will study well, because he is going to be in Kyrgyz class.
Anya is ill
with chickenpox.
Everything is
good there…children are developing and learning.
But Ruby for
the future I think it would be good for them to have a TV, it would give some
space to Gulnara. Her room is very small, and she can't be alone from the kids at
all, they are following her constantly, if they would watch TV a little in the evenings
it would give her some space I believe. But it is a desire - not a need for future.
The little
old TV that they had is not working any more.
Me and Costa
are doing meetings there with kids every Tuesday now, and it is good
for all of us, we are getting to know kids more, and have more opportunities to
share God with them, and as Constantine was a youth leader in the past, he has
really good ways of sharing the word with kids.
I wrote you
before, and just remind you, that we need to get kids ready for school and need about $600 for all the kids; clothing, shoes, and school supplies for both the kids at Dayspring and at Jeremiah House....
